Normal and Abnormal Sexualized Behaviors in Children

Date: 7/15/2010
Often a history of sexual abuse is accompanied by atypical sexualized behaviors. Is there a way we can differentiate normal sexual behaviors from those associated with sexual abuse? Do sexualized behaviors change across developmental stages? How can we use sexual behaviors to assist in the differentiation of cases that are related to sexual abuse from those that are not abuse? This presentation will review the research on normative and clinical sexual abuse behaviors and recommend ways of screening for such behaviors using the Child Sexual Behavior Inventory.
